This is the homepage for the EPIC2001 project. EPIC2001 is a process
study sponsored by NSF and NOAA under the US CLIVAR program. The purpose of
EPIC2001 is to better understand those processes which control the
behavior of the coupled ocean-atmosphere system in the eastern
tropical Pacific, and in particular the distribution of sea surface
temperature, ocean mixed layer depth, and atmospheric deep convection
over the seasonal cycle. The field phase of EPIC2001 is scheduled for
September and October of 2001 and is based in Huatulco, Mexico and San
Cristobal, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. Available information is as
