The scattered solar radiance between 175 nm and 325 nm was measured from a
balloon payload in April 1983. The data are being made available to the
scientific community via this web site. A description of the experiment
and analysis of the data are presented in two papers:
Scattered Ultraviolet
Radiation in the Upper Stratosphere, I: Observations
and
Scattered Ultraviolet
Radiation in the Upper Stratosphere, II: Models and Measurements
Both papers have been published in the Journal of Geophysical
Research, Atmospheres, Vol. 100,, pp. 11,157-11,171, 1995. The
abstract of paper I and the
abstract of paper II
contain the most relevant information.
Reprints are available upon request.
Please reference the first paper if using the data for research purposes.
The observations consist of 390 spectral scans, taken in sets of 13 elevation angles ((-3.3,-3.1, -2.6, -2.2, -1.3, 0, 0.8, 2.0, 2.8, 4.0, 4.5, 9.7, 14.6)
