The accompanying files contain the datasets used to generate figures such as Figure 5 in our paper on radon flux from the earth's surface (S. D. Schery and M. A. Wasiolek, 1998, Modeling radon flux from the earth's surface, IN: Radon and Thoron in the Human Environment, Proceedings of the 7 th Tohwa University International Symposium, Katase and Shimo, editors, World Scientific, Singapore, ISBN 981-02-3443-0). That paper describes the methodology, and calibration, of the model used to generate these datasets.

FDH3A.01 through FDH3A.12 are monthly datasets for January (01) through December (12). Each dataset is an ASCII file consisting of a column of 64800 numbers in units of milliBequerels per square meter per second. The numbers are ordered by latitude and longitude starting with 90N 180W followed by 90N 179W, 90N 178W, and so on ending with 89S 179E. Each number represents the radon flux density for the one degree by one degree cell to the east and south of the given geographic coordinates.

The file FDH3A.00 is the annually-averaged flux density for the world obtained from an average of the twelve monthly datasets. The file ave2.bmp is a bit image color map made from the dataset FDH3A.00. It is a more detailed, colored version of Figure 5 given in our paper.
