This is due 4/05/2024 at 11:59 pm. Please answer the following questions. There is no online homework this week. Volume 2, Chapter 11, Problems 15, 17, 21, 25, 30, 33, 36, 61 The TA may work #15 (which you also have to do), 22 (a little harder than 21) 26 (similar to 25), 31 (similar to 30) 33 (you also) 37 (similar to 36) in recitation. I am only giving written HW this week. It is the chapter on Magnetic Fields. They have an exam on Tuesday so you will have to teach some things that I did not get to. I showed them F = q v x B and F = I L x B. We practiced the right hand rule I told them that B = phi-hat mu0 I / 2 pi r for a long wire without explaining why. We derived F = I1 I2 L / 2 pi r for force between two wires. While I mentioned the cross product, I did NOT talk about what happens if the field and current are not perpendicular. Please explain the sin theta relationship. You MAY explain the determinant method, but I recommend against. I will not give any problems that need it. On problem 31, part "b" is about electron volts. I did not explain electron volts, only Joules. You may choose to skip part "b", but definitely do part "c". Problems 30 and 31 are basically what they are doing in lab this week. You should mention that. I ALSO did not explain how a magnetic field forces a particle into a circular orbit. Do not bother discussing helices. Just do circles. SPECIFICALLY, explain/derive equations 11.4, 11.5 and 11.6 from the book.
