010929 Radar and Sounding Operation Status

The radar operated continuously without problems.  Precipitation in 
the vicinity of the ship was limited to small scattered cells with 
low echo tops for the majority of the day.  Although a brief shower 
occurred at the ship near 22Z, most of the day was clear to partly 
cloudy with strong surface winds (20 knts).

With regard to the soundings, the 00Z stopped sending data near 500 
mb and the 16Z sounding lost humidity data near 550 mb.  The 
soundings were marked by strong vertical shear (low level westerly 
and upper level easterly).
