010919 Radar and Sounding Operation Status The radar operated continuously without problems. A solar calibration showed both the azimuth and elevation pointing angle errors to be within 0.1 degrees. Convective activity was suppressed across the radar domain for most of the day. Except for some scattered echos mostly to our south, there was not much convection to take note of. With regard to the radiosondes, the 04Z did not return winds above the surface and the 20Z launch had flakey winds in the lower troposphere. Also, the 16Z and 10Z sondes were lost before reaching 250 mb. The most notable feature of today's sounding profiles is the pronounced drying above 850 mb.
