REVIEW OF PREVIOUS FORECAST
C-130 made it all the way down to 1S on their 95W flight yesterday.
They reported little moisture gradient at the top of the boundary layer, but
large gradients in the horizontal at higher levels. AMSU-B mid-trop water
vapor channel seems to show some of these features (Image 1). We find a sharp
moisture gradient along 96W at 8N. Should be good to compare dropsondes with
these data.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Circulation features lacking in both Wisc. 850 vort (Image 2) or NHC streamlines.
GOES vis for this am (Image 3) shows lots of convection along presumed land breeze
fronts just offshore all along the Pac coast either side of us. Looks like
Cbs just offshore of HUX.
N-S band of convection along 10N, 94W has persisted overnight with only little
westward movement. Don't see any real circulation features with this so hard
to determine if it will hold togehter 'til tomorrow.
DISCUSSION
Mex customs has received payment and will release ocean probes on Monday. We
expect them here late Monday (yea).
ITCZ mission of C130 is being modified so both it and P3 shadow one another
on all legs. Will try to get electronic copies of missions.
