Most of the students taking this class are physics majors, and the physics curriculum at New Mexico Tech ill prepares students with a good experimental background, and it's important to know how to do experiments.

More importantly, it is important to have a great determination to achieve your goals in science. In the hallowed rooms and the sacred classes it is easy to accept the physics that is handed down by our elders as an article of faith. We do not see where the science comes from; we do not understand how to apply it.

Senior Lab is the place where we learn how theory was crafted from experimental results, and how these experiments were performed, and where we perform these experiments ourselves. From most the experiments are difficult and time consuming, but they are done-and the students learn, albeit slowly, that they are capable of performing experiments. It is in this class that we acquire confidence that we can be actual physicists.

And that is why we love the class.
